The doctors at South Florida Vascular Associates specialize in minimally invasive treatments performed using imaging guidance. Interventional radiology is a rapidly growing area of medicine. The minimally invasive techniques used by interventional radiologists are an advance in medicine that often replaces open surgical procedures. They are generally easier for the patient because they involve no large incisions, less risk, less pain and shorter recovery times.
In 2001, Dr. Julien opened South Florida Vascular Associates and became nationally known as one of the first Interventional Radiology physicians to have an office-based clinical practice in the country. The practice focuses on vascular problems and treating them in minimally invasive ways. He has become the primary vascular consultant for a large number of physicians in the community.
In 2005, Dr. Julien was one of the first physicians to open an office-based Endovascular Suite, where he performs procedures traditionally done in the hospital. Unlike vascular surgery, which treats vascular disease with open surgery, Endovascular Surgery is a branch of medicine that treats disease processes through the vascular system, using catheter-based image-guided techniques. Endovascular procedures are minimally invasive, require less or no hospital time, have fewer complications, and result in reduced cost, discomfort and recovery time for the patient.
In February 2010, South Florida Vascular Associates moved to an 8,000 square foot State-of-the-Art facility in Coconut Creek Florida. With close proximity to Palm Beach County, and located in Northwest Broward County, Dr. Julien is able to offer comprehensive quality care to a broader population. His practice has been highlighted as a model for the next generation of Interventional Radiology Practices.
